About Karen Meehan

ACNS-BC, CVRN

Karen Meehan, ACNS-BC, CVRN, is a board-certified advanced practice nurse. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois and completed her master's degree in nursing at Loyola University Chicago. She has worked as an advanced practice nurse specializing in heart failure since 2009. Her focus has been patients supported with ventricular assist devices for end stage heart failure as a bridge to heart transplant, or as destination therapy. 
 
Karen joined Heart Care Centers of Illinois in January of 2017 as the research coordinator for the CardioMEMs Post Approval Study with principal investigator, Dr. Gregory Macaluso. She continues to oversee the study participants, as well as monitor the daily readings of patients implanted with a CardioMEMs device, which is used to prevent hospital readmissions due to heart failure. In addition to being ACLS certified, she is an active member of International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, ASAIO, and the Heart Failure Society of America. She is also a certified yoga instructor.
