About Dr. Michael Porter, M.D.

Electrophysiologist

Dr. Porter received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1998 followed by an internship and residency specializing in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center. His training at Loyola continued with subspecialty fellowships in both Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. In addition to his clinical training, he completed a post-doctoral research program in cardiac gene translation at Loyola University in Chicago. He has received board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. 

Dr. Porter has dedicated his career to the treatment of complex arrhythmias using the technique of catheter ablation. His primary areas of interest include catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, SVT, and atrial flutter. His clinical expertise extends to implantation and management of implantable cardiac devices including defibrillators, pacemakers, and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). He is also an experienced practitioner in laser lead extraction. 

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Porter has been involved in a variety of research projects and publications involving catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation, antiarrhythmic drug therapy, and implantable cardiac devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, and CRT).

Dr. Porter is currently seeing patients in our Mokena and Palos Park Clinics.
